Built in 2010, the ‘MSC Magnifica’ is 293 m long and has a capacity of more than 2,500 passengers. She arrived at Damen Shiprepair Rotterdam on October 20, 2014 and was berthed at the yard’s largest dry dock, which is 307 m in length. The timescale was tight. After a very fast and successful 17-day dry docking the cruise ship left the yard on schedule to start her next cruise. Dating back to 1600, Damen Shiprepair Harlingen (DSHl) has one of the longest histories in the Damen Shiprepair & Conversion group. We have, however, moved with the times and now offer a synchrolift, repair platform and covered repair hall. These facilities allow us to work independently of weather conditions and to dock multiple vessels simultaneously. The yard can accommodate vessels up to 130 metres in length.

The Innovation is an offshore heavy lift DP2 jack-up vessel what has been upgraded at Damen Shiprepair Rotterdam. Damens dock 8 offers excellent facilities near deep water, supplying jacking-up, mob and de-mob possibilities. The main scope contained: Increase of size of S690 spud can shoes to 16 x 16 m each. Damen offers full steel S690 expertise. Renewal of turbine parts support structure, biggest part weighing over 200t. Fitting of upending bucket (sticking out 17m.) to starboard side of vessel.

Odessos Shiprepair Yard S.A. accommodated for repair and maintenance the vehicles carrier Neptune Iliad. The vessel was docked at our Floating dock No.3 and standard drydock jobs were carried out. In addition steel, mechanical and pipeline modifications were done. The project was completed on time and within budget and Neptune Iliad went straight back into service on schedule. Damen Shiprepair Vlissingen, part of Damen Shiprepair & Conversion, completed a major upgrade on the Rowan Viking (a Keppel Fels ‘N’ Class drilling rig) earlier this year, in thirty days less than was initially projected. Owner Rowan Companies plc. projected that the work on the Rowan Viking would require 130 days, but through the application of innovative project planning techniques and highly specialised equipment Damen was able to reduce this by nearly 25 percent.
